Job Ad: Project Officer

General Scope of Work

The Project Officer shall ensure that the mandate by the General Assembly on the Rights of Nature and all activities and plans related to the RoN thematic concerns are delivered and outcomes are facilitated within the project period.  He/She shall ensure the development of communication, advocacy plans and strategies, as well as IEC materials, for the RoN.  He/She shall provide coordination of all the PMPI’s efforts with Rights of Nature Philippines, as well as with the global and regional RoN movements.

Specific Tasks:

With the supervision of the National Coordinator, the Project Officer shall:

  1. Assist in facilitating the effective coordination and synchronization of activities among PMPI members, the RoN PH Movement, and global and international movements.
  2. Develop a mechanism to monitor the movement’s actions and communicate them to the members.
  3. Prepare regular updates and submit reports for the National Coordinating Council and Co-Convenors Committee meetings as well as help in consolidating reports on the network’s thematic concerns.
  4. Coordinate and convene regularly the Rights of Nature Task Force, the Rights of Nature Steering Committee, and the pool of experts.
  5. Provide technical and logistical support to the Task Force, Steering Committee, and pool of educators and lawyers.
  6. Ensure lobby work is sustained both at the local and national levels, and with national agencies.
  7. Help develop resource materials on the RoN for the network and for public’s consumption. Particularly, help facilitate engagement with the University of the Philippines Open University on the creation of RoN education materials for the massive open online course.
  8. Performs other tasks and/or as requested by the National Coordinator.

Job Requirements:

  1. Must be a Filipino.
  2. A college graduate, preferably with a degree in Community Development, Environmental Science, Political Science, and Social Sciences, and other related courses.
  3. With experience working in an NGO environment for at least 2 years.
  4. With high-level skill in communication and coordination as well as people skill.
  5. With some skills in writing statements, press releases, and doing media work.
  6. Computer and social media literate.
  7. With ability to work under pressure and a flexible schedule.
  8. With ability to multi-task under minimal supervision.
Terms of Employment, Benefits & Compensation

Successful applicant shall undergo a 3- to 6-month probationary period. During the probationary stage, performance evaluation shall be conducted during the 3rd and 6th month. Passing the two evaluation processes is a requirement for full employment. Once applicant passed the probationary period, he/she shall have full employment status and shall enjoy full benefits as required and mandated by law.
