In the spirit of unity and compassion, Philippine Misereor Partnership Incorporated (PMPI) has been honored with the prestigious Peace Companionship Award at the 2023 National Peace Summit.
Organized by Sulong Peace and with the theme “Peace Companionship Towards Amplifying Best Practices in Peacebuilding, Human Rights, and Development,” PMPI’s unwavering dedication to peace, human rights, and environmental justice was recognized.
Nearing its twentieth year in humanitarian work and service, PMPI and its 230 partners has emerged as a beacon of hope and change, consistently leading the charge in supporting mining communities, swiftly responding to climate disasters, tirelessly advocating for climate justice, championing good governance, and bravely enlightening others about the fundamental principles of human rights. PMPI’s unwavering commitment extends further as they passionately campaign for the safeguarding of environmental defenders and the acknowledgment of nature’s intrinsic rights, firmly anchoring and leading the transformative movement of the Rights of Nature.
This remarkable event that took place last September 28, 2023 at Quezon City, continues to empower community-based leaders and advocates for peace and is part of the “Innovative Responses of Civil Society in Defending Human Rights and Promoting Peace and Development Through Challenging Times.”
