#PMPI Rights of Nature PH orientation
The clergy of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro has taken a proactive step towards environmental stewardship by hosting a Nature’s Rights orientation session for their fellow members and constituents. During this session, Ms. Yoly Esguerra, the National Coordinator for PMPI, delivered a compelling presentation highlighting the paramount importance of recognizing the rights of nature as a fundamental way to safeguard our precious ecosystem.
In addition to this educational effort, the Archdiocese has set its sights on further impactful actions. They plan to issue a Climate Emergency declaration, a significant step in acknowledging the urgency of climate change and are actively in the process of planning a SALAKYAG activity. SALAKYAG, short for Sakay, Lakad, Layag, is a dynamic campaign characterized by a caravan that traverses towns, cities, and provinces. This initiative is designed to rally public support and engagement, urging people to choose nature and take decisive measures to protect their environment, which is, ultimately, their home.
The commitment and dedication of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro to environmental advocacy exemplify the profound importance of collective efforts in addressing environmental issues and the pressing need to protect and preserve our natural world.
