We are officially launching the SALAKYAG PARA SA SANGNILIKHA 2018 in cooperation with CBCP NASSA-Caritas. It is part of a national campaign that calls for the protection and conservation of our environment and respect the rights of nature. A nationwide caravan will commence in Zamboanga City on May 28, 2018 and will culminate in DENR and in Mendiola in Metro Manila on June 5, 2018, the World Environment Day. Prior to the national caravan, there is a series of Kalampag ng Salakyag which will comprise of build-up activities in our mining affected communities or sites of struggles from March to May 2018.
This year’s theme will be Protect mother Earth! Defend inter-generational people’s rights to a balanced and healthful ecology. Recognize and uphold the Rights of Nature! This will also jumpstart our campaign for the Rights of Nature and will also raise public awareness on the negative impacts of mining and climate change, highlight human rights violations in mining communities, call for the passage of green bills pending in the legislative branches of government, and demand accountability from these mining companies.
