PMPI is a partnership between non-government organizations (NGOs), peoples’ organizations (POs), church groups in the Philippines, and Misereor – the overseas development agency of the Catholic Church based in Aachen, Germany, which subscribe to the vision, mission, and goals of the partnership.
PMPI is a platform for continuing dialogue and sharing of initiatives, resources, and expertise and best practices among partners. It is also a venue where common development agenda and strategic directions are formulated, which provide guidance to the Philippine partners and Misereor’s areas of coordination and common action. Currently, PMPI is involve in public advocacy and capacity building of its partners on five thematic concerns – Good Governance, Sustainable Agriculture and Fisheries Resource Conservation and Management (SusAg and FRCM), Climate Change Adaptation, Mitigation and Disaster Risk Reduction Management (CCAM-DRRM), Anti-Mining Campaign (AMC), and the Rights of Nature (RoN).
Position/Designation: Campaign Lawyer |
General Scope of Work
The Campaign Lawyer shall help in the network’s campaign to mainstream the Rights of Nature specifically to pursue cases that will recognize ecosystems as having rights. He shall lead the legal campaign of the network to push the recognition of the Rights of Nature in the Philippine legal system. He will provide support and give counsel to the network’s legal needs across all thematic concerns.
Specific Tasks:
- Monitor, conduct research, and develop literatures and briefers on RoN legal cases all over the world for the network and public information;
- Help interpret laws, rulings and regulations for natural and juristic persons and generate learning that will benefit the RoN campaign;
- Prepare materials needed for the technical hearings of RoN Bill in congress;
- Provide technical and legal support to partner communities initiating the crafting of local ordinances and/or updating or amending environmental code;
- Support preparation for RoN case build up, assist in the processes for litigation, and legal consultations;
- Convene a pool of lawyers to regularly discuss RoN case trends from around the world as well as contribute on the discussion on the earth jurisprudence;
- Help and support the PMPI senior counsel in legal cases across all thematic concerns; and
- Performs other tasks and/or as requested by the National Coordinator.
Job Requirements:
- Must be a Filipino.
- Educational Background. Must be a licensed lawyer in the Philippines and a member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP).
- Legal Experience. At least 2 years of legal practice, ideally in human rights or policy work, with experience in legal research and case preparation for campaigns.
- Knowledge and Skills. Good knowledge of Philippine laws and policies. Understands laws about civil society groups and the campaign work. Can communicate clearly in English and Filipino. Able to explain legal ideas in simple terms for campaign teams and communities.
- Values and Alignment. Committed to social and environmental justice, human rights, and democracy. Shares the campaign’s mission and values. Willing to work with different groups at the grassroots level.
- Availability and Responsiveness. Able to provide timely legal advice during critical campaign periods. Willing to travel or work flexible hours when necessary.
- With high-level skill in communication and coordination as well as people skill.
- With some skills in writing statements, press releases, and doing media work.
- Computer and social media literate.
- With ability to work under pressure and a flexible schedule.
- With ability to multi-task under minimal supervision.
Position/Designation: Content and Communication Staff |
General Scope of Work
The Content and Communications Staff support the development and implementation of media campaigns that advance PMPI’s advocacies across digital and broadcast platforms. Working closely with the Communications Team, the Associate ensures timely production, publication, and monitoring of content for social media, television, radio, and other relevant channels.
Specific Tasks:
- Manage and maintain the social media content calendar, ensuring regular and relevant postings across platforms.
- Assist in the production and coordination of PMPI’s online shows, particularly Green Faith, including pre-production planning and live execution.
- Conduct research to support the development of content for social media, TV, radio, and other broadcast media.
- Design a wide range of communication materials including urgent appeals, posters, primers, brochures, logos, signage, book and magazine covers, newsletters, and advertisements.
- Support scriptwriting for broadcast programs and contribute to other writing needs such as speeches, reports, and campaign materials.
- Write compelling blog posts, public statements, and press releases that reflect PMPI’s advocacy positions and campaign narratives.
- Help establish and nurture relationships with media contacts to strengthen PMPI’s visibility and long-term media engagement.
- Assist in the shooting and editing of online and broadcast media content, ensuring quality and alignment with campaign messaging.
- Support the Communications Officer in maintaining PMPI’s data-banking system and contribute to the preservation and development of the network’s institutional memory and archives.
- Perform other tasks as may be assigned by the National Coordinator, Thematic Project Officers, or Communications Officer
Job Requirements:
- Must be a Filipino.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Mass Communication, Development Communication, Journalism, Advertising, or a related field.
- Experience: At least a year of relevant experience in communications, media production, or advocacy work, preferably within development, policy, or faith-based organizations.
- Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Filipino. Proficient in visual design and layout for digital and print media. Capable of coordinating online shoots, editing video content, and supporting live broadcasts. Able to manage a content calendar and produce materials under tight deadlines.
- Digital Literacy: Proficient in social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube) and scheduling tools. Familiar with design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) and basic video editing tools. Comfortable navigating online collaboration platforms and cloud-based archives.
- Work Ethic: Highly organized and detail-oriented. Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, advocacy-driven environment. Willing to adapt to flexible schedules and respond to urgent communication needs.
- Team Collaboration: Works well with diverse teams and supports the Communications Officer in mentoring interns or the National Communications Team. Contributes to maintaining PMPI’s institutional memory and data-banking systems.
Preferred: Creative and resourceful in developing compelling content and campaign materials. Passionate about social justice, environmental advocacy, and faith-based engagement. Familiarity with media relations, grassroots mobilization, and policy environments is an advantage.
