51 years ago, September 21,1972, Martial Law was declared in the Philippines by Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
#PMPI continues to remember and pray for the thousands killed, tortured, forced disappearance of hundreds, mass destruction of the environment, censorship of the media and opposition, billions in debt, and much more that was brought upon by the bloody legacy of this dictator.
Ironically, as we commemorate the declaration of Martial Law on this day, another Marcos sits as President, and on his watch: rampant corruption, violence, and killings of environmental defenders, destruction of our ecosystems, and borrowing of money in the billions.
More than ever, PMPI calls on everyone to remain vigilant and keep the discourse going and growing, in order for our nation to never forget, never let the atrocities, destruction, and nightmares happen again.
