#PMPI PARTICIPATES IN MINING FORUM IN INDONESIA

This coming October 17, PMPI will be collaborating with other Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in co-facilitating an essential workshop during the Thematic Social Forum (TSF) on Mining & the Extractivist Economy 2023 in Indonesia.

This significant event, taking place in Semarang, Indonesia from October 17-20, 2023, brings together voices from around the world to address the critical issue of mining.

The current extractivist model has devastating consequences for our planet, depleting its resources, displacing communities, threatening food sustainability, and exploiting economies. At this forum, there will be discussions on how alternatives can be explored and finding solutions to combat the global impact of mining and the extractivist economy.

PMPI, with GARN, YLNM, RED MOSQUI, OMASNE, and Frente NAcional Antiminero, will be conducting a Rights of Nature workshop. This will be an integral part of the session and discussion as it emphasizes the interconnectedness of humans and nature and provides a moral and legal foundation for preserving our planet’s ecological integrity in the face of extractive industries.

Stay tuned for more announcements on this special event.
